2017 Highlights and Happenings at The Frontier Power Company

• Added facebook account to provide more communication with members.

• Scholarship winners were: 1st Places –Gretchen Lozowski, River View High School and William Fornara, River View High School. 2nd Places – Mackenzie Hudson, River View High School and Austin Miller, Garaway High School.  Mackenzie also earned additional scholarship funds by competing and placing second in the Touchstone Energy Achievement Scholarship competition. William went on to place ninth in the Statewide part of the scholarship competition earning additional scholarship monies.

• Youth Tour to Washington, DC winner was Kristina Scheurman of Tri Valley High School.

• Hosted the 16th Annual Customer Appreciation Day on May 5th in the new Frontier Propane parking carport with about 800 people in attendance.

• Sponsored the 36th Annual Coshocton Hot Air Balloon Festival held in June with employees serving on the Balloon Committee, working the T-Shirt booth, working on balloon crews and delivering propane.

• Helped River View Jr. High celebrate the last day of school by providing a cook out for students and staff, who were served by Steve Nelson, Kelly Kendall, Melvin McVay and Chad Miller.

• Bryar Cox, graduate of River View High School, once again helped our spray crews and propane department as summer help. Bryar continues his education at The Ohio State University.

• Hired new employees Chris Brickles as a right-of-way crew leader, Sybil Wright as a customer service representative and Tracy Boyd as an accounting representative.

• About 900 members and guests attended the Annual Meeting held on July 28th at River View High School.

• Board members were elected by mail and announced at Annual Meeting – Incumbents Bill Daugherty Representing District A, Coshocton County and Robert Wise representing District B-I, Tuscarawas County were re-elected.

• Mark Wills was re-elected to the Frontier Propane board representing the “At Large” trustee position. 

• Steven K. Nelson, General Manager, was re-elected as chairman of Buckeye Power, Inc. Board of Trustees for his 22nd term.

• Purchased several animals at the Tuscarawas and Coshocton county fairs supporting our local youth completing FFA and 4-H projects.

• Kelly Kendall volunteered at the annual Coshocton Jr. Fair Auction.

• Returned approximately $51,000 in credits on December electric bills for members who have a water heater control switch to help beat the peak.

• Returned approximately $3,000 in credits on June, July, August and September electric bills for members who participate in the “Cool Returns” program.

• Issued grants with funds generated from the “Frontier Power Community Connections Fund” helping organizations totaling $30,600.

• Set up a display and participated in Open House at the Coshocton County Career Center in February and also set up displays at the Tuscarawas and Coshocton County Fairs in the fall.

• Returned approximately $200,945 in general retirement capital credits to current and former members and $196,902 was paid to estates.

• Completed extension of garage bays to the main Frontier Power building.

• Service progress included 102 new connections, 47 individual upgrades, 83 pole changes and 27 new security lights installed.

•Replaced and rebuilt approximately 17 miles of line.

• Completed installation of ACLARA meters on entire system.

Frontier Power has again had a very busy year but has been able to accomplish many of our goals.

Moving into the future, Frontier Power continues to upgrade our electric system in order to better serve our members and minimize outages. New technology allows our members to be better informed about their electric accounts and new rebates promote energy efficiency for both commercial and residential members. We look forward to bringing our consumers quality electric service at affordable prices well into the future and continuing to support our communities through programs offered, new technology and volunteering.
